Epidural or not?

I'm considering not getting one but these natural birth vids have me like 😳

Go in with the mentality that you won't get one but keep an open mind to the idea that you might need it. I was all about not getting one, but my son was sunny side up and I was in horrible back labor and needed one in order to relax and progress in my labor.

I'm saying this from experience, you cannot make this decision until your actually in labor! Before I had my daughter I was so against epidurals, I watched the business of being born and was so determined to have a natural birth. I exercised everyday to prepare my body for labor, but then I went 10 days overdue, my baby was stuck and took ages to move down. I ended up being in labor for over 62 hours! Intense contractions 3 minutes apart the entire time and then had to be bed bound due to gbs and waters breaking early they had to keep monitors on the baby. After 54 hours of labor and no sleep I gave into getting an epidural and it was the best decision for me. I was so exhausted if I didn't get it I would have needed a c-section I got a few hours sleep and that helped soo much. I pushed her out with no tears and had a really quick recovery 😊

I had one both my previous pregnancies. I had zero issues with it. Both vaginal deliveries, walked myself to the bathroom within minutes of it being removed, breastfed with no issues, babies were both fine. It didn't hurt much either. On the contrary, I was in screaming burning pain beforehand and my labor was quite long. Soooo I say try without it, but don't be disappointed in yourself if you decide to get one.

I have had one with epidural and one without.  I'm on my third and I'll be opting for epidural again... if I'm lucky enough to have time.  Unfortunately my second came so quickly that I did not have time.  Natural non medicated birth is not something I'd opt to do again if I have the choice.

I'm in the same boat. I watched a documentary called "The Business of Being Born". Found it on Netflix by searching Birth. It seriously helped me make my decision!
