4 year old questions

So, my 4 year old son said, " mom, your pregnant!" And then "how did you get pregnant?" ... I laughed, then took the cowards way out and just told him I wanted another baby soi got pregnant, then changed the subject... So I'm wondering, at what age so you think it's appropriate to explain a little more detailed how the whole thing works? Have your little ones been curious and asking questions?
