Cycle change

I've been off of birth control for about 8 months now and my cycle has continued to be 27 or 28 days apart. I'm at 21 days and it looks like I have some light bleeding starting. Could this be because my body is finally adapting to not being on birth control? I've never had a cycle change suddenly like this before can anyone explain why it happened?

PS there's no way I can be pregnant
