Retained placenta? 😭

Hi, I just found out that I have retained placenta and will need to go in for a D&C/ERPC. Can anyone tell me their experience with this? Did they put you to sleep for it or give you something else? Ugh!! Help!

I've had 3 retained placentas! (And one not) They put you to sleep and kinda scoop it out with what looks like a melon baller. The aftermath is no different than when the placenta comes out on its own except your sleepier from the anesthesia. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

I had a D&C for a miscarriage last summer. I had the choice of a general or local anesthetic and chose the general and m was very happy with that decision. I was only in recovery for about 45 minutes and was able to go home shortly after that. I laid low the day of (more so because of emotions, not so much because of physical pain) but was pretty much back to myself the next day, at least physically.

How did u find out you had one?
A week after giving birth part of my placenta came out of me on it's own. Doctors didn't tell me that I had any issues. This caused lots of bleeding and problems
