Bleeding after checking cervix

Went today for my 38 week check up. She checked my cervix and I'm still sitting at 1cm dilated for the 2nd week in a row 😕 3 hours after my appointment I started having brown spotting along with light cramps. I called my nurse and she didn't have much to say other than if it becomes bright or heavier to go ahead and go to the hospital. Anyone experience this after being checked or could it be labor starting soon? 🙏
