Baby shower when you live out of state

My family lives all over the country. I recently moved to a new town and have just a handful of friends here. Another handful of friends 2-3 hour drive away and everyone else is a plane trip away :/ Do I still invite everyone so that they're included and atleast have the option to come? I don't want it to look rude,like I'm expecting them to come or just trying to get them to buy me things. Thoughts please!!
