Does having a miscarriage still mean you were/are a mom.

Question

Even if it was just a six week fetus. Or a 35 weeks fetus does that mean you can say you were/are a mom even though you never gave birth? 
This is a serious question so please no judgemental rude comments. Just answers and express your opinion in a polite way.

That's a personal opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. Motherhood starts from the moment of conception. You were given that baby to protect, nurture and incubate until birth which means you were intended to mother it. I consider anyone who has suffered a loss a mother, once your womb has felt the growth of a human there is no taking that away.

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, and for me I don't feel like I was a mom/will be a mom until after giving birth. I do however feel like I lost a baby. but I think it's more how you feel about your experience, I don't see a universal answer to this question

I think it depends on the person. I had a miscarriage at ~6 weeks and don't consider myself a mom. However if you feel like a mom then you're a mom. It's not really a yes or no answer- it's extremely subjective.

I believe it is enough to have gone through the hormonal changes, looked forward to birth, and your child's future, and be absolutely devastated to lose the potential baby.  That said, as with anything, we all have unique experiences that deepen over time.  It seems overly focused on "labeling" to be to worry about definition of being a mom or not.  It certainly isn't as robustly "a mom" as having a ten year old foe example  and several younger kids, having not just gone through hormones and hopes and fears, AND potty training, packing lunches, play dates, docs visits, etc.  Think it depends on context and why you are asking.

A baby is a baby no matter when you lost him/her honey. Just means you have a tiny angel watching over you now.
