Is this normal?

It isn't abnormal for me to get my period late but this time was way too long for comfort. I was two weeks later than my calendar said. But before my period actually came I would start bleeding and think I started and then it'd just go away. That happened two different times before my period started. Then when it was finally here it lasted 8 1/2 days which isn't normal for me (usually around 6 days) and I also bled heavier the entire time. But when my period finally ended I spotted one day and then on two different days have bled quite a bit throughout the day. Has this happened to anyone else?
