First period post D&C?

So I had a still birth, followed by a D&C. Two weeks later, I had a second D&C. I stopped bleeding a week after the second procedure (so.. May 27). The past few days, I've had a lot of mucousy discharge and today, horrible cramps. I know it's realistic I could be getting my period again finally, but my body doesn't feel the way it did before? The cramping feels more like when my body was trying to pass retained placenta fragments... Is it normal for your bodies "normal" menstrual functions to feel different about a delivery and D&C?? Or to actually change altogether?
