Tampons?

When is it okay to wear tampons ? I'm only getting old blood and I didn't tare i did get maybe 3 stitches because I think they said my pee hole did rip alittlw and it would heal on its own but they have me stitches to stop the bleeding, I feel no pain anymore but scared to try putting in a tampon
