Inducing labor for non medical reasons

Im a ftm and im due Sunday no signs of labor whats so ever I have an appointment Thursday and we will be setting up an induction date for the following week if she doesn't come on her own. Im a ftm and i heard that it hurts more? Is inducing for non medical reasons safe?? Some insight on your experience or anything could really help! Thanks!
