Period during sex?

I started bleeding late last night. My boyfriend & I were having sex. I should be getting my period this week & I think the sex triggered it but my boyfriend said he possibly could've scratched me while fingering me. I am feeling cramps more & more as the day goes on, is it possible that the bleeding coming down is from my period?
