Relationships with children

Has anyone ever had a break from their significant other after becoming new parents ? He says he needs time and I'm giving him the time he needs. But this is the worst time for me. I'm so emotional, my son I know misses his father so much. We're in seperate houses right now but he wants to continue doing things as a family. I mean how do feelings not come into play ?
