Can I start birth control in the middle of my period?

My husband is coming home tomorrow from overseas. I started my period on Saturday and I am thinking about starting a new pack tonight to make my period go away. Can I start a new pack and if so will my period go away?

When i started it was the first sunday once you start and it did not end my period so im not sure thatll happen

Read the packet it came with i do believe some say either the first day of your period or the first sunday after you start
