The only way to ensure you don't hurt your baby is to NOT take it! It's literally a crap shoot! It will either make you crap your brains out, start labor, not start labor, or cause your child to poop in utero and aspirate on it.

Don't do it!!! 😩😩😩😩 Lol. I did it with my second and I about DIED (not literally). But I thought I was. Until I took the biggest 💩 of my life! Contractions stopped and I was sent home. 😥

The point of castor oil is to give you diarrhea that stimulates your bowels to irritate your uterus into contracting. I was just saying that Taco Bell will do the same thing, not because it is spicy, but because you'll get diarrhea.

Never taken it. There's no way to make sure that it doesn't harm you or the baby 😕

I tried it, 3 doses so many minutes apart, whatever the recommended dosage for labor inducing is, after having been in early labor with my first for about 9 hours. It did not speed up my labor. It gave me explosive diarrhea, slightly dehydrated me, and left me with a burning butt hole. My contractions were still 8-10 mins apart but I was much more tired and miserable. I'll never try it again.

And I've had quite a few friends do this and never had a problem. I do however have 2 friends who did not use castor oil but their baby came later around 41 weeks and their baby passed meconium. I believe if your baby is gonna pass meconium, it will regardless.

Yep. And to be honest, that was the only problems my girls did have 😂😂 they like for them to poop at least once there so they make sure their bowels are right, well they took forever to poop! They thought we'd have to stay but luckily they did poop finally 😂😂

My niece pooped meconium in utero from my sister taking it. When my sisters water broke it was greenish and she had an infection. Please be careful.

I did it with my first two and it worked both times. Both healthy babies.

I was researching the same question yesterday and read that castor oil can also increase the odds of baby having a merconium (sp?) BM in utero. Now I'm not sure if I want to try it... damn you Google!

Meconium, and you're absolutely right :) Definitely not worth the risk.
