Anyone who had a big birth weight themselves?

I was a huge baby at 5.15 kg. My brother was 5.0 kg, and my sister, who was born one month prematurely, was 'just' 4.4 kg.

As my mom always said, she didn't have babies, she had children.

So of course that makes me wonder if this is genetic, and if my own firstborn will be as big as I was. Of course it also makes buying clothes and diapers for the first months a bit of a gamble, at least this early on.

Any of you mothers have experience with this, either personally or from someone you know? I'd like to hear both if you did inherit the 'big baby gene' and if you didn't :-)
