Should mothers who shake their babies be sent to jail? The baby is a newborn and the mother has postpartum depression. She's jealous of the dad and keeps saying the baby looks at her in a evil way.

*The mother refuses to get help, she said she's never felt so alive in her life.

Sounds like she needs some therapy and she definitely needs to be removed from the child to prevent hurting him/her. If you know someone who might hurt her child, please alert the authorities.

We adopted a baby a few years ago who had been shaken by her mother. She was born without complications but due to her shaking her, it caused her to be blind, she cannot control her body temperature, she has mental disabilities, seizures, cannot eat on her own and her life expectancy was 2 years old. She is now 4 but still deals with these issues. Her mother got psychiatric help, yet went on to have another child soon after and did the same thing. Due to this, I'm on the fence about how to answer this question.
