Netflix issue?

So my boyfriend and I are on his account for Netflix. He is deployed right now , I'm in California. How come he can watch certain movies that I can't and vice versa? Also what does it mean when I want to watch a movie but it says "is unavailable to stream" "this title is available on Netflix DVD" but my boyfriend can watch that exact movie ???

Different countries have different movies available due to licensing. The movie has to be made available to that country and Netflix must pay a price the license to make it available to viewers. It is easier and cheaper to buy content on DVD and rent it out than to purchase a license to stream it digitally.

Think about it this way, with DVD, you put it in your player after you receive it in the mail and it displays the content. Like redbox. With streaming, it costs a lot more to make the content constantly available for you to "download" - plus you can watch it on various mediums such as your computer, TV, or phone.

Because this adds up, Netflix may not always have a particular movie for streaming, but may have it on DVD for you to rent.

I'm guessing this is a bug Netflix has right now. I've experienced the same, but if I click it twice it let's me play it
