Smoking when pregnant?

Hi... 
Found out I was pregnant last Friday I was smoking between 20-30 a day I cut down to about 4-5 a day when I found out but I'm so concerned about harming the baby yet I'm struggling so much to give up as I do enjoy a cigarette especially at work! I have been and brought a ecig today and liquid which is only 0.3% nicotine iv been in touch with a stop smoking helpline they said ecig are much better than smoking cigarettes any of you lady's smoked an ecig whilst pregnant? Thankyou!😘

I quit cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant. It's not worth the risk on a child that doesn't have a say in if they are harmed or not. Too much of a risk either way (smoking or vaping or using ecigs). Just keep working on quitting.

Why would you do something that knowingly harms your baby? Smoking doubles the chance of a baby being born early or weight less than 5.5 lbs and it doubles the risk of a still born not to mention that if you are smoking, the baby is smoking.

My cousin was told to wean herself off rather than quit cold turkey. It took her some time before she completely quit, but so far baby is developing well.

Quitting cold turkey could actually cause too much stress on the baby my sister was told to wean but not cold turkey. So I would talk to your dr.

I was a smoker for 13 years... When i found out i was pregnant. I quit the same day... But i crave cigs all the time but i know its not good for my child.. Just keep doing what your doing you have a long way. Congrats

I've never been a smoker so I don't know how easy or hard it is to just quit. I am a lover of caffiene and wine and once I found out I was pregnant I quit drinking coffee and alcohol. I guess in my head I know it's not what's good for baby so I quit. There's much worse outcomes for smokers than coffee drinkers during pregnant. It's really best for the baby and yourself.

Thanks for your comments! It is so easy for people to say just quit if they'v never smoked I felt so guilty everytime I went to get a cig but it's so hard to just quit!... I know plenty of people who smoked 20 a day all the way through there pregnancies and there all fine! But I also want to quit for when the little ones here... But been using my ecig and had 0 cigs today and I'm actually pleased with myself as my ecig contains 0.3mg of nicotine which compared to a fag is nothing... Thanks again for your comments everyone

It took me clear till I was like 5 months along to fully quit. My baby is perfectly healthy and I smoked a lot..

My dr said she would prefer me to use a vape pen rather than smoke my ciggs or the patch but i havent gotten around to go to the smoke shop and everytime we are near one its always too late and they are closing

I smoked with my son until i was on hospital bed rest and that was murder i think if i had not been on the magnesium drip i would have gone mad

Its always easier for people to say just quit but its not that easy you can cause more harm if you quit cold turkey yes it can be done but not everyone can thats why a lot of drs say to cut down as much as possible
