Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

Even if a decision is left up to you? This is hard to explain I guess. I faced with a unexpected pregnancy 5 years ago. I ended up having an abortion. I have always wondered was that supposed to happen for a reason? Did I make that decision or was it the decision I was destin to make? Like was it gods plan for me to go that route. I don't even know if this makes any sense. I have always regretted it and even 5 years later I wonder what if
