Cramping/Braxton hicks

I never had them with my last pregnancy, but over the past few days I've had them and they've been coming more frequently and lasting longer. I'm 37+2 weeks pregnant. My last baby came 9 days early..so we're expecting the same with this one. What has been your experience with them? Is this an indication of labor approaching. They're pretty painful at times
