I need advice.
Okay, so my ex-boyfriend and I broke up about 7 months ago and it has been pretty tough. As of late, I've been doing better and have even restored my happiness as a single young woman. Now, my ex recently contacted me and told me he would be in FL (did I mention it was long distance?) and would like to see me and the family. He basically ended up staying with us for the week and has been pretty amazing with the family. I am not going to lie...I still love him. Seeing him interact with my family made it worse and it basically tore the band-aid off my heart. Everyone assumed that we were getting back together and in one awkward conversation, my stepmother even asked! We looked at each other before he replied "something like that..." Now last night as we were getting ready for bed, I just bluntly asked him.
"What are we?"
He shared with me that he didn't come on this trip to get back together but rather to see me and the family because he missed us. He said that we were friends prior to dating and that is something he would always like to have. He even went on to saying that he loves me still as well. But when I asked him why we couldn't get back, he simply didn't give me a good answer (at least in my opinion) He said he didn't want to chalk it up to bad timing but that would best explain the situation. My rebuttal was that if you love someone... You would want to be with them. No ifs, ands, or buts.My heart broke just knowing that the person I love loves me back but can't be with me. He is still here staying with us and I don't want to make it awkward... What should I do? How should I act?
