FTM but feeling a little discouraged .. Had my first cervical check today at 36 weeks exactly and I'm not dilated and 50% effaced and baby is high .. Is this normal? Bad ? I want him to cook as long as he needs too BUT was hoping to get the ball atleast rolling on this dilation !

Dialation doesn't mean anything until you're in labor. It wouldn't have made a difference if you had been 3 cm today, you could still be pregnant for another month. And most FTMs go to 41 weeks anyway. It's your cervix's job to stay closed until labor, and it's doing its job well. Try not to stress over meaningless numbers.

Lol I'm 38 weeks 4 days and not even effaced or dialated. There is no real "normal". Everyone's body is different & will start to thin and dialate when they're ready. I'm having a RCS though so I'm fine with not dialating.

My OB said the thinning is what usually takes first time moms the longest and you're half way there 😊 I bet in the next couple weeks you'll have some more progress.

At 36 and 37 weeks I was 1/2 cm dilated and 30% effaced.

Totally normal to not be dialated at this point. Especially being a FTM. I'm 36 weeks, and last week I was not dilated and only 30% thinned.

Yes still normal! I'm a FTM as well, but I remember with my sisters first baby, she was 40 weeks and dialated at barely a 2. Doctor's weren't concerned at all. Your doctor's will definitely let you know if they have a concern about your progression.
