Measuring big @ 36 weeks... C section? :(

Question

I've been measuring normally all along but today at my 36 week appointment, doc said I'm measuring big. "That's a lot of baby" he said - lol. He ordered a growth scan and I guess I'll end up going in for it this week or next. He said if we're looking at an 11 pound baby, he'd offer a c section. I've been so focused on a vaginal delivery, I haven't mentally prepared for possibly needing a c. Anyone in the same position? 😫 He did also say that baby is in a favorable nestled position for possibly fitting vaginally and that my body will tell us during delivery if it won't be dilating more than 5 cm 😫 now I'm just all nervous!

The doctors have absolutely no idea what your body can and can not do. Many mothers have been able to give birth to 10+lb babies vaginally with little to no issues. Also, the growth scan can be off by up (+/-) 3 lbs in either direction. That being said, you have to do what YOU feel is right for your body.

My doctor offered the same, and I turned her down. A growth scan can be off by over a pound and a half and many women have delivered large babies perfectly fine, don't let them talk you into being cut open and having a birth experience taken from you.

Got at scan yesterday at 36 weeks, my baby boy is measuring 7lbs 10oz already, yikes! I was 10.2lb myself, I'm gonna try and do deliver him vaginally and naturally if possible. Started evening primrose oil, squats, raspberry leaf tea, and told hubby I'm using him for his sperm for until this baby comes lol

That seems like a huge "jump to conclusions"' for the doctor. Sometimes the baby is laying differantly and so will measure a little differantly. I've actually been measuring 2 cm behind the whole time and today at 37+5 I measured at 38. My midwife didn't seem concerned at all, and when I asked about it she said the baby was probably just in a different position than normal. Last time his back was on my left side, this time it was in my right, so that makes sense. It seems like your doctor is already setting you up for stalled labor before it even begins. Odds are you'll push your baby out just fine. And if not, there's no point in crossing that bridge until you come to it.

in the opposite situation. I've been told I'd have a csec from the start due to small canal. Just this week my odds of successful vaginal went from 16% (estimated at 8 weeks) to 60% (estimated at 35 weeks. 
Switching gears and emotionally preparing for a different birth plan is a little jarring but no matter how this baby has to arrive, you can do this! Keep dialogue with your doctor going as you approach and get all the facts.

I was told I was measuring big at 35 weeks and Doctor said if we wait till my due date then we will have a problem, so I'm being induced at 39 weeks and hoping she hasn't gone past 8lbs. Both of my two my previous babies were under 6.5lbs but then again I was in my teens and I was small too.

Maybe start watching YouTube  videos on births where women had large babies? :) I personally know small Asian women who have birthed 13 lbs babies! So there is hope for you to avoid c-section. I think it's all about positions, breathing etc.

I'm 5'4, 105 not pregnant. I vaginally delivered my son who was 9'6, 22 in, head in 98% for growth. I had an epidural, had a level 2 tear and pushed for 1 hour. It was a very positive experience. I recovered great and he was an amazing sleeper and eater right from the start. I will say I have a "favorable pelvis" for delivering babies per my dr. Not sure what that means but I guess my hope is to encourage you that sometimes big doesn't mean bad!

I've been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead since 19weeks. Doc is monitoring with ultrasounds and his plan is to just induce at 39weeks unless we have a reason to induce before that.

Same situation here but will talk with doctor about options this week. All she said last week was even tho my baby is measuring very big she isn't worried about weight just his shoulders. Hoping she send me for another scan.
