Don't want to be induced

So I'm due July 8th and instead of going to a regular doctor visit, I go to a pregnancy birthing class. I get to spend 2 hrs at each session with my doctor and other ladies due around the same time frame. He told me he'd check me after the class and strip my membranes. I also had to go do my stress test so he met up with me later afterwards and gave me a paper talking about inducing me. He set my induction to be on July 11th. But what I'm wondering is, do I have to? I thought they'd usually wait a week after your due date to see whether or not to induce? I don't know what to do. Ftm here and pretty confused and baffled because I don't want an induction. Going to tak about it with my doctor at my next appointment on Tuesday.
