Okay to visit a critical care unit in hospital while pregnant?

My mother in law is in critical care, intubated and sedated. Is it safe for me to visit a unit like this in the hospital while pregnant and immunocompromised?

Yes definitely get a mask. I work in a hospital and in CCU there could be TB, mrsa,cdiff, flu, etc.
Don't touch anything wash your hands and wear a mask!
I'm so sorry to hear your loved ones going through that.

Are you calling yourself immunocomprimised  because you're pregnant or because of a condition you have? I'm pregnant and in nursing school, some of my classmates have been pregnant and we have all worked in ICU CCU and ER. There are certain illnesses you have to avoid when you're pregnant and taking care of a patient... But otherwise it's ok. If you're really worried about it ask a nurse at the nurses station when you get there and they can give you a mask. Just wash your hands when you leave. And I hope your MIL gets well.

If your asking because your immunocompromised that's one thing.  But if you have a condition that makes you immunocompromised is different.

Pregnant you can visit, just be cautious and wash your hands before and after. Hope your MIL gets well soon!
