Bleeding after giving birth?

FTM, and I'm curious how long does bleeding last after giving birth? Is it more intense than a period or similar? Thanks I know it's kind of an icky topic, but I want to be prepared.

I think it varies. I had vaginal births and breastfed. I bled for six weeks both times. It tapered off after a week or so but still needed a pad for several weeks

I bled very heavily for the first two days. Then it became like a period for a few days and tapered off by the end of the first week.

I had heaving bleeding for the first 4-5 days then light bleeding for maybe 2 weeks or less

I bled for 8 weeks, but I also had a secondary hemmoraghe and had to have a D&C to remove blood clots and placenta fragments from my uterus. It's usually a week of heavy bleeding and then another 3-5 weeks of light bleeding.

I had moderate bleeding for only a week. Nothing heavy. Didn't last long for me.

I bled for a few weeks... The worst for me was the contractions from my uterus trying to get back to size 😣 I had to remember to take my Motrin at certain times to avoid the discomfort as much as possible. Early on one day I thought I wouldn't need it and after a feeding I wanted to smack myself 😖

With my first I bled heavily for a week and then it got lighter for another 5 weeks. Probably because I didn't take it as easy as I should of done..wanting to get back to normality too quickly by walking everywhere and exhausting myself. With my second it was heavy for a few days and stopped bleeding after a few weeks. In my opinion resting really helped :)

I had a c-section so my bleeding  was only for like 5 days n light

Mine was a little like a period. About a week, maybe a little more, of period heavy bleeding and then another week or so of light bleeding/spotting.
