We are limited on space, haven't yet bought clothes for our baby and have already received clothes from my family. I asked them to pause for a little on getting more, so that we have the chance to buy some before running out of space and it's special for us to choose things for our first baby. Well, they reacted really badly. It seems like they think I'm asking them to not get her anything ever again, even though I've made it clear that's not what I mean and that we're really grateful for what they've already gotten her. I know it's special for others to buy baby stuff so I'm only asking them to take a little pause!

I'm struggling to make them see our point of view and everyone is now upset. Any advice?
