Birth Control

I take birth control between 9-10pm every night. Last night I was out partying and just realized that I forgot to take my pill yesterday so I just took it today at 6pm. This is my first month on this brand as I was on Aviane 28 and was given this brand the next time I went to pick up my prescription. Probably just a cheaper version or all they had or something. Will I still be protected fairly good or did this just mess it up? Also, does randomly switching brands do anything to how protected you are the month you switched?
