How do I set up a gynecologist appointment?

I'm turned 18 in January, and I just recently started having sex. Its the summer before college, so I live with my mom and I'm on her insurance. How do I either set up an appointment by myself or ask her? Shes been very strict on "don't do sexual stuff because people will think you're a whore" so I don't want to ask her and then have her think that I'm having sex, but this is important for my health.
