HCG level??

Question for you ladies? I work in the medical field but obviously I don't specialize in Gynecology or baby, but when I had my lab work done, I asked the lady if they were checking my HCG and she gave me this god awful look like I didn't know what I was talking about and then asked me why we would check that! Umm because I am pregnant and I thought you want to make sure the levels are increasing, and after my history I would think that would definitely be one they would check! Anyways, just want your opinions ladies and was I right that the HcG level be checked or do they not do it?
