Shower sex advice?!!

I'm on my period and so doesn't like to have sex when I'm on it cuz it's messy and well gross lol but I'm super horny and so is he so we decided on shower sex. I'm leaving today to spend the month with my mom 9 hours away in Maine so I want to have this last day with him and make it count til I come back home. I tried shower sex before but it felt like a rubber balloon if that makes sense like no librication. How do you make shower sex work? Any tips? Advice? Please.
