If you don't want to talk about pooh (or lack of it) then look away now!!!

Heather

So..... pooh(or lack of)! As we all know constipation is a big problem for a lot of women in pregnancy and if you don't suffer from this then I hate you a little bit 😂😂😂

The problem lies with preventing and/or getting rid of it once it arrives!

Like most women I am a busy woman, I run a house with 3 children and a dog, I run a business from home and get phone calls from the MIL at all hours for no reason other than to distract me...... I need coffee! We are told from an early stage in pregnancy that caffeine is bad for the baby and so to restrict it and drink decaf instead.... I have to agree aswell as if I drink too much caffeine the baby starts doing somersaults and I feel slightly seasick!

What they don't tell you is that decaf coffee bungs you up! You go for a few weeks blissfully unaware, drinking your skinny decaf lattes until one day you can't move with pain and then realised you haven't been for a week!

So what do you do???? Well, you ring your midwife or look up on how to move things along and all you are told is that you should keep as hydrated as possible and that should help keep things under control.... yay!!!

You drink loads of water and wait for the big visit... to the toilet! In the meantime, the water gives you really bad heartburn (why?) And the pain is unbearable so you reach for the gaviscon.... aaahhh heartburn gone! One minute? Why have I not been for a pooh yet? Well, what they don't tell you is that gaviscon can cause constipation!!!!

How the hell are you supposed to go? Everything you put in your mouth that cures constipation gives you heartburn and the cure for heartburn gives you bloody constipation!!!!!
