Online baby shower?

So my husband and I live across the country from all of our friends and family. The only people we know where we live are co-workers. One friend suggested we have an online baby shower because we have older kids and kept absolutely nothing from when they were babies, so we have nothing for this little. But my husband and I think that would feel like we are asking for hand outs. I really wanted a shower, but only to be able to celebrate our little in the presence of friends and family, which we can't do. Do you think we should go ahead with an online shower or just not have any kind of shower?
