Why do you want a baby?

A few years ago I was asked a question like this, I wasn't ready to have a child but I loved imagining a future baby and a person asked me why do I want asked baby..

I remember just thinking 'hold on.. why DO I want a baby?' It would be selfish of my to bring asked child into the world for something to love and something to love me (which was originally my reason) and I had no finances...

So even now this baffles me, I'm desperate for a child, I finally want to have have a family with my current partner, I want to be a mum and start a new chapter in my life but is this even a valid reason? Also, why do you want a baby?

I think you need to have somewhat selfish motivations in having a child. Now by no means am I condoning selfish parenting. But people are the most dedicated and invested in the things they do for themselves... People who have children because they think they are supposed to, or its what their spouse/family want are the ones who get to a point in their life when they wish they had Dont things differently and their children will always suffer. Its so important to want to have children for your own reasons, whatever they are, but they have to be yours.. And selfishly yours... So that no circumstances could ever change that desire to want and love your children.

It may be selfish but I want someone who will be there for me no matter what.  I want a mini me!  A best friend!  I wanna give someone all the things I had growing up.  I want to make a family with my husband.  I want us to always have a piece of each other.

I know it will be the hardest thing I'll ever do but I picture my hubby and I and our own little family and raising little people to be the best they can be and just all the fun and joy and unconditional love. And I think maybe that I have this fantasy imagine of raising kids and having a family but I am excited for all the memories and our own family traditions and stuff. In this world it is selfish to an extent to have children... But it is only through people raising good children that the world can even become a better place for the future after all.

I will be selfish and say it, I want to have my own little bundle to love. I been wanting a child since I was able to babysit  (I was 16) I considered the possibility to get myself pregnant on purpose but then as selfish as I was I did the pros and cons. I wouldn't be able to support a child being a teenage parent, I want to be able to offer my baby the best. And now that I will be 26 in a few months the desire for a child grows more. However, my boyfriend and I had a serious talk about accidental pregnancies and what we would do. I told him upfront that I will not abort. He's okay with that and he will be by my side taking care of the baby. I know that in the end, whether he keeps his word or not, it was my decision to have the baby and I know I will give my 100 % and more to my child (I already do with the kids I nanny) because that's what they deserve, my all and a chance at life. You're allowed to be selfish, it's part of the human condition, but before you go and get yourself pregnant, weigh the pros and cons like I did. Will you be able to give this child the attention and time it needs. It's not something you can return, it's a life in your hands and you need to seriously but some serious thought into what you're doing.

I love kids and I know that I want to have a family with my fiancé. I've known that I wanted to have kids since I was a little kid. I'm super family oriented and my fiancé and I are getting married in a year, and after we're married we plan on TTC. We're both adults and financially stable, which is important to us

I can't put a definition to it. I just feel like I'm ready and it's what I want in life right now. Two years ago I was still very much in the "I don't want kids at all" stage of my life and it just gradually changed. I still have moments where I realize it's going to be hard and my life is going to change, but I feel very much at peace knowing that
