Labor cookies
READ ALL BEFORE MAKING, INSTRUCTIONS ARE STREWN THROUGHOUT.
Not doctor approved, not proven to work. Only thought to being on labor because it simulates the smooth muscle in your bowels (makes you poo) which will hopefully stimulate your uterine muscles. Talk to doctor first! ! Induction (even natural) should be monitered and isn't considered sage until 37 weeks at the earliest. I know some of you want the baby out already, but be safe.
Recipe/directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit(177 C, about).
2.) Mix together 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger (powdered works fine also), 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (ground works best), and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix well.
3.) Add 1 cup tightly packed brown sugar (dark or light/golden, doesn't matter), 8 tablespoons of cream cheese (regular, you can look up conversions online to figure out cups/ounces), 1/3 cups molasses (or honey if you don't like the flavor, don't use both), and 2 egg whites (don't add yolks).
4.) After everything is well mixed, the batter will seem crumbly. This is normal, don't add water or oil to make it easier, it will mess up your batter. Roll the batter into about 1 inch balls (it should fit in your palm easily) and place onto a greased baking sheet (if you don't grease they will stick to the bottom like crazy). I like to get a finger wet and touch the tops of the cookies, then sprinkle them with sugar before baking. It looks nice and makes them a bit sweeter, but isn't necessary. Make sure there is about half an inch between each cookie on the sheet, they will grow a bit as they cook and will fuse together if they aren't spaced well.
5.) Bake for 8-13 minutes. They are done when the middle has risen and the sides look slightly cracked.
Notes: They taste slightly like a ginger snicker doodle. They are kind of spicy. If you want to add a decorative flare, use a fork to mash the balls down a little in a cross cross pattern. It will bake looking like lattice. Only eat 1 or 2 at first, they will cause stomach upset and pain, especially if you eat too many. The above proportions make quite a few cookies, I would start with only 1 batch.
