Blood sugar monitoring without Gestational Diabetes???

Lacy

I screened negative for gestational diabetes at 28 weeks. I had bloodwork done recently and my A1C was within normal range. I have no history of gestational diabetes (or diabetes when not pregnant), began pregnancy at a healthy weight, and am within the ACOG recommended weight gain range.

However, they are saying i need to PROVE I don't have gestational diabetes in order to give birth in a birth center vs the hospital solely because of my age (37)...and the way to prove is by taking my blood sugar 4x/day...for a full WEEK!!!

Something seems not right. Seems like bad medicine (excessive and wasteful)...and why now? I'm 38 weeks and conceivably could go into labor before the week passes. anyone else been asked to do this??
