Should I be worried?

So, last Thursday, I started my period 5 days early. My period blood amount has been going up and down randomly. On top of that, it's been over a week, and I'm still bleeding. Should I be worried? What could it be? (Oh, I forgot to mention that I have been on birth control, to regulate my period, for a few months, and this has never happened before.)
