Painful sex

I've attempted to have sex with my boyfriend twice now. Both times it is so painful going in, it feels like he's almost too big for me. I've been told that really isn't possible and he should be able to fit. I'm always aroused before we do, and we even tried lube. Is there a position that should work better, or any advice you have would be great!
