Posterior cervix ?

Question

What does it mean when the babies head has dropped yet the cervix is still posterior?? How long will it take for baby to be ready? The cervix to drop I guess? I am due July 28th

My doctor explained it to me like this... it's really weird but... go with it... lol

Imagine your cervix as a garage door. With a posterior cervix, it means that it's tucked up and back (like an open garage door... And by garage door, I mean the actual door being your "opening") and what it needs to do is move forward and down in order for baby to exit. I hope that kinda makes sense... I know it's weird, but that's how she explained it to me.

I was induced but the day before, my cervix was tucked back and up and was "barely a fingertip" open. I didn't have any problems dilating after they put me on pitocin though. I went from barely a fingertip to pushing in 4 hours.
