Dishes and cooking

I know most people/ couples have the one cooks one does dishes, but my husband always tells me to clean up after myself after cooking both of us dinner. Every time without fail and he cooks like once every six weeks. The dishes tend to pile up and he never feels the need to do them or help. I need explanation points. I'm being bad and saying diy for dinner so we both clean our own messes.
