Metformin Side Effect

Has anyone had luck losing weight and/or getting pregnant as a result of Metformin? I started it yesterday, I'm 35, TTC, 245lbs and 5'6" inches tall. It's been 9 months since TTC and this last period I've been bleeding for 17 days. So the next step is Metformin. All other blood work was normal, EXCEPT borderline A1C. SO, I'm nervous and sad but most of all, need to hear whether this will really work. Thank you for your feed back.
