Epidural and Ice chips...

Question for anybody. I know you can eat food before getting your epidural. I know once you get it. You can no longer eat anything unless Dr say so but even that rare. Instead of eating ice chips, which I don't do. You think I request for Popsicles instead? ( just simple pain one no fancy ones) if the hospitals have them in the maternity wards. I know in children hospital they are fully stocked.
