Going back on birth control

So I've been off birth control for almost a year and I've decided for my sake and not wanting to worry about getting preggers because I cannot afford a child. And since I've learned that the emergency contraceptive isn't cheap. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I just hope that I won't have the same issues I did before as far as birth control goes. Which was headaches from too much estrogen.
