Boss Is Offended By My Pregnancy.
I'm 15 weeks pregnant and we announced publicly at 12 weeks via Facebook. Our parents knew when we knew at 3 weeks and they've been so great about it. When we made the announcement, my co-workers swarmed me with love and support that next day at work. I had never felt so thankful for such great fellow employees. However, my boss/HR lead was really upset. She went into her office and didn't speak to me again for 3 days. Not even about things completely unrelated. Since then she has treated like me being pregnant is a bad thing and when she found out this baby was a "surprise", she got really snotty and said, "Yeah well sometimes things happen when you're not careful". I brought this up with one of my co-workers and she sat me down and told me, "She and her husband have been trying to get pregnant for three years with no luck. Her husband is fertile but her weight is the problem and she can't lose weight. She has PCOS and has to lose at least 40 pounds before she can be healthy enough to conceive, but she won't change her own habits and commit. She just wants it to happen on her terms, not her doctor's. So when people get pregnant she gets super offended and treats that person like crap". I feel terrible and want to comfort her, but at the same time I didn't do anything wrong and she's taking this the wrong way. I don't know what to do about it and my husband just says to ignore her because she'll get over it. Any advice is so appreciated! Just trying to make things easier at work. Thank you!
