Is a 12 week scan vaginal or over the belly?

Having a scan at 12 weeks Monday , for Down's syndrome testing. Was wondering if it's over the belly or transvaginal. Also how many momma were able to get their baby's gender at 12 weeks if asked to see in between the legs?

Gender can be predicted with a very high accuracy rate at 12 weeks of the sonographer is well studied in the Nub Theory. It looks at the genital nub and it's angle to the spine. Parralel or facing inward is girl and 30 degrees or higher is boy.

My sonographer told us girl at 12 weeks only because he studied the theory. The gentials nubs are the same at 12 weeks and all stick out (so you can't say boy based on a pokey out bit)

Just had mine today it was on belly... I would just ask about gender? Might get an experienced tech that will feel comfortable telling you.. I don't think it's too early I just think some might not feel 100% confident telling sex at that time.. My OB told me at 11wks she thought it was a boy, another tech told us at 14wks boy for sure! And even for us on the scan it was super obvious

They wont do the gender till 18-20 weeks,it actually wont show till around 15 weeks in general but they wait till the midway point for gender
