Marriage + finances

The dreaded stress. I got married in November and had no problem paying my bills, and my husband had no problem paying his. But now that we have combined them, we are broke. It really doesn't make sense as to why this is happening by we are stressed and don't want it to cause friction with us. We have talked about getting second jobs but we both already work hard and long hours to begin with. It's also hard because we only have one car. Has anyone been in this situation, or does anyone have any advice to help?
