Early Labor?

I'm 34 weeks as of Monday. Sunday afternoon I lost my mucus plug. I have been having a lot of pelvic pain and pressure along with Braxton hick contractions. I saw the doctor on Monday and she decided to do a cervical check just to see how everything looked. Found out I'm dilated to a 1 and my cervix is soft. She said she could feel his head too.  She told me to take it easy and watch for regular contractions and leaking or broken bag of water. I'm a FTM and was just curious if any of you went through this as well? I'd really like for him to stay in there and bake a bit longer!
