You can but I don't like leaving mine in for more than 6 hours so I wear a cloth pad.

I don't like to do it early in my cycle but sometimes I don't have a choice. Luckily my body actually works with me when I do it on the 1st or 2nd night and I'll wake up at night when my body feels the tampon is full and that feeling wakes me up to change it.

You're not supposed to keep them in for longer than 9 hours so I usually get up in the middle of the night to change it or wake up early

Of course. Just change it as soon as you wake up Or when it's full.
