Would you drive two hours away for college?

Would you drive two hours away everyday from your home to go to a good university that offers one of the best medical schools in your state? I stay at home and I can't stay on the dorms or get an apartment. That's why I stay at home for college to save money.

I would try to get all my classes consolidated into 2 or 3 days so I wouldn't have to have 4 hours total drive everyday of the week. I would also see if any classes that went towards your degree could be done online. Another thing to consider is how much money is being spent on gas everyday to get there and back, the mileage being put on the car, if you live somewhere that snows in the winter would you feel comfortable driving in snow/bad weather for that long. Lots of things to consider.

I went to school in boston, but lived in CT, I stayed on campus, it's 2-2.5 hours of driving.. but doing it twice, that 5 hours of driving.. lot of gas, miles and time.. I would look into staying on campus or in the area with a friend or even a relative!

I commuted an hour to college for one semester (junior year) while living at home. I had previously attended a community school 5 minutes from home. I did my best to schedule all of my classes on 2 or 3 days a week to minimize driving. I spent a ton of money on gas and was exhausted with commuting by the end of the semester. Not having a dorm meant that I spent all of my breaks between classes on the library and lounge areas. I moved into the dorms the following semester.

I wouldn't do it, because I don't think you'll have an extra four hours every day while in medical school. If you're in the US, you can borrow money to pay living expenses during college - living close to campus is a very good idea!

I'm not one to commute, especially such a long distance. That'd be like me trying to go to Orlando for UCF everyday.. Nope couldn't do it.
